Operations Coordinator
Vessel Meats is a dedicated whole animal craft butchery that focuses on highlighting the best
meat that Nova Scotia has to offer. As we enter our 10th year of business this year, we are
inviting food service leaders to bring their skills to the table and work beside us to continue to
pave pathways for local food in Nova Scotia. Our business started in 2014 at the Alderney
Landing Farmer's Market and we are still grounded in a solid community foundation in
Dartmouth as well as two farm markets in Halifax. Our business values its strong roots in
customer service and the community we serve, and we are looking for strong leaders with
similar values to help us take our business to the next level.
This role is a new role to our organization and will help us bridge operations between our
butchery and kitchen as well as bringing strong organizational skills to our off site farm market
teams and customer service experience.
Working within a small team this is a hands on role, where the coordinator will be working with
meat, helping and serving clients, answering the phone, taking orders, working with
coordinating the kitchen, butchery and off-site farm market teams, supervising the shop,
overseeing cleaning schedules, and ensuring that our organizational values are met along every
step of the way.

About this role:
This person will be the pivot person between our butchery, our kitchen, the clients and the
markets. They will be overseeing details, orders, helping customers and assisting organization
leaders often in a hands on role. They will learn basic meat cutting techniques like grinding
meat, cutting chicken, making kabobs and burgers, and slicing bacon. They will develop a strong
grasp for our products and inventory so that they can take orders and help customers find the
best products for their desired meal. They will be interested in food, specifically meat and learn
as much as they can about the products our organization sells. They will be responsible for
closing the store in the evenings and overseeing the close and transfer to the cleaning crew.
You will learn about HACCP food safety and be responsible for overseeing our food safety
program before it goes to our Food Safety Office for Compliance.

Offerings and Perks:
-The pay level for this position will depend on the applicants competencies they apply to
the above with a range from $17 hourly to $20 hourly, depending on applicable skill sets.
