Butcher Assistant

We are hiring extra help for the summer.

This position is a summer position to help us cover our vacation times as well as our increased demand in the summer; however for the right person and situation it could work into a full time position.

• Experience working customer service and the desire to engage with clients to discuss our products and values and help them choose the best option for their meal.

• The ability to read and write English. The ability to follow written direction. The ability to fill out official paperwork. This is a food production facility. Food safety standards are higher and more complex then in restaurant environments.

• The ability to stand and work for 8-10 hours per day, the ability to lift 50+ lbs

• The ability to work as a team and also independently.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 6 months experience. Pay will depend on experience and the candidates ABILITY TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR MATURE AND PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE.

• Minimum high school education with the ability to read and write English and the ability to follow and fill out paperwork.

About this role

Butcher Assistants will be coming in without meat retail experience and will work to assist the head butcher while they are growing their skill set. They will receive hands on learning of the above requirements, and they will start off learning the case, doing customer service, packaging, labelling, organizing, and assisting members of the team as they grow their understanding of core competencies. We are looking for people who have a basic meat retail background who want to grow into industry leaders. At our company you will experience:

• Full carcass breakdown and receive a full “meat” education; including steak cuts, differences in carcass, transformation, and all the small details as well as how to showcase them to clients.

• You will learn HACCP food safety principals and how to implement food traceability programs.

• You will learn waste management and how to minimize waste in a whole animal facility.

• You will experience various work locations including farmer’s markets and becoming a member of a regular retail community.

We are offering

• The pay level for this role is $16.50 - $18.00 hourly (sorry we don’t collect tips) a candidate must demonstrate a MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE ATTITUDE for consideration of a higher rate.
